D7, up until recent times, was little talked about and was very much a working class area of North Dublin. But thanks to gentrification it's now synonymous with Dublin hipster-ism. Alongside the greasy spoons and long time residents; real inner city characters, you will find health conscious coffee shops, hot yoga studios, and youthful yummie mummies with their designer babies and buggies. Offset - Day three

After a bit of an unplanned lie in and a mad last minute dash to the Bord Gais Theatre I sneaked in to the very back row just after Sue Murphy took to the stage. I had an awful seat and couldn't see the presentation screen thanks to the low hanging gallery above but she was in full swing talking about her early career as a designer.

Offset - Day two

As I work in a corporate environment I was really keen to hear Doug Powell of IBM Design speak. He was in Dublin to help officially open their new design studio in their Irish office and to announce major plans by IBM to employ up to 2,000 designers over the coming years. The GM of IBM Design, Phil Gilbert had also been in Dublin that week at the IBEC CEO Conference. This conference was in partnership with Irish Design 2015, an Irish government initiative which promotes design and creativity as a key element of competitiveness and innovation.
